The Pipevine Swallowtail is on the left and the Polydamas Swallowtail is on the right. You can see the longer fleshy tubercles near the head of the Pipevine Swallowtail. This is really the best way to tell them apart as caterpillars.
Pipevine Swallowtails have reddish-orange eggs. Polydamas Swallowtails have yellow eggs. This is also helpful to know if you are growing pipevine and having a hard time figuring out which egg is which.

Again and again while searching for information about my butterfly garden my search brings me here. You are truly an expert. I cannot believe you are practically in my own back yard. I live in Valrico, have never been to MOSI (my family has many times) but I will make it a point to one day go and see this garden you have created. It sounds like a magical treasure.
Let me know when you want to come out to MOSI. I am there M-F and would love to meet you and show your aroun the gardens :)
