Richard T. Bowers Historic Tree Grove at MOSI, Tampa
Illustrating History: Using art to interpret historical connections
Call for Artists
Overview
Two dimensional visual art pieces are sought for display in the Richard T. Bowers Historic Tree Grove at MOSI. Sixteen two-dimensional visual art pieces will be selected to artistically interpret each of sixteen trees in the Historic Tree Grove. MOSI receives between 750,000 and 1,000,000 visitors annually, providing for an opportunity for increased visibility to established, local, high school, college and senior artists.
Submission Review
Submissions will be reviewed by a selection panel and three to five pieces will be selected for an online public vote. This online vote will decide the selection chosen for final inclusion in the Richard T. Bowers Historic Tree Grove at MOSI.
Selected Work
Selected art will be printed on vinyl, attached to benches and displayed for a term of no less than 5 years. While displayed, each art piece will have a corresponding page on the MOSI.org website that will include a digital version of the piece, an artist biography, an artist statement and an artist headshot. Links back to artist blogs or websites can be included. Additionally, art and artists will be highlighted via MOSI press releases and social media.

About the Richard T. Bowers Historic Tree Grove
The Richard T. Bowers Historic Tree Grove at MOSI offers a unique timeline of America's history as it was viewed by silent witnesses, trees. Our trees in the grove are all seedlings of trees that witnessed amazing historic events or were associated with famous historical people.
About this Project
To interpret the history of the Richard T. Bowers Historic Tree Grove at MOSI, MOSI Outside has obtained a Historic Preservation Grant from Hillsborough County that will provide interpretive signs, benches, murals, kinetic sculptures and ethnobotanical gardens for each of our trees.
