Hickory Horned Devils: Week 4

Our Hickory Horned Devils (Citheronia regalis) continue to grow at a fairly alarming rate! They are now several inches long, about the size of many full-grown butterfly caterpillars, and covered in plenty of spikes that would seemingly scare off any predator. They have a long way to go, though. While most butterfly caterpillars eat for about two weeks before pupating to chrysalis, moth caterpillars often take much longer. We expect to be feeding these Devils for at least another month, and perhaps longer. We'll keep providing regular updates, so check back often!
