In the Sandhill

A brief walk in the Backwoods Forest Preserve this afternoon found the beginnings of our Autumnal wildflowers in bloom. Here's two of the lovely species you can see flowering at MOSI Outside right now.

Sandhill Wireweed (Polygonella robusta)

Scrub blazing star (Liatris tenuifolia)

MOSI Outside consists of the Backwoods Forest Preserve, the Richard T. Bowers Historic Tree Grove, and the BioWorks Butterfly Garden. MOSI Outside exhibits are open to the public, free of charge, 365 days a year.
